Have you ever played any of Zynga’s multiplayer enabled games and had trouble compelling your friends to play with you? Or maybe you’ve been playing Cityville and you want to increase the number of people you interact with? It was relatively difficult to find like-minded players before. Apparently, Zynga also thought so.
Zynga has now addressed the actual social aspects of its games by announcing the creation of Zynga With Friends, a social lobby where players of Zynga’s many games can meet and play regardless of the social network they’re using or the platform on which they play.
The main features of the Zynga With Friends network is an activity feed that allows users to see what other people are doing and playing, a chat interface so players can communicate with each other, multiplayer leaderboards – which competitive players love to look, as well as other features that seek to unify all of Zynga’s titles.
With Zynga With Friends, Zynga will attempt to create an unified environment where Zynga players can interact whatever platform they may be on, or whatever games they may be playing. A cross-platform approach is something that many developers aspire to achieve and Zynga’s attempt at the cross-platform strategy is considered one of the biggest in recent memory. It will be interesting to know if the company will fully realize its goal. Surely, other companies will follow suit if Zynga can show that their implementation will be successful.
