Smartphone users who are serious about gaming will have something to look forward to next week when ZTE releases a new smartphone that has gaming in its DNA.
ZTE made an announcement through Twitter that it is going to launch a new advanced gaming smartphone at a special event in London. The phrases “advanced gaming smartphone” came from ZTE itself so it’s going to really fire up the interest of smartphone gamers.
ZTE’s announcement has come as a shock for a couple of reasons. People have been talking about gaming enabled smartphones for the longest time but none of the smartphone manufacturers have really addressed this supposed product vacuum in the smartphone arsenal. It is ZTE that has finally taken the bull by the horns and actually developed a gaming smartphone. The second reason? It was ZTE that has taken the bull by the horns and not one of the leading smartphone manufacturers – that is, Apple or Samsung. ZTE is ranked a distant fourth in terms of global market share in smartphones so ZTE’s move is both very aggressive and a big gamble.
ZTE’s decision though looks like it is the correct one. The market is really ready for a gaming-focused smartphone. Gaming is one of the most performed activities by smartphone users next to surfing the internet and emailing. As such, both these popular activities has been addressed effectively in previous smartphone models from different manufacturers, but a gaming enabled smartphone hasn’t. Sony’s Experia Play is the closest gamers got to a gaming smartphone but it was still found wanting in certain features.
Gamers and smartphone fans will definitely be looking out for ZTE’s announcement on July 18.
