Flickr is migrating their content to Yahoo ID, you know, Yahoo’s login name that you can use for their services (including mail). Duncan Riley isn’t too happy about this, but he won’t have much choice in the long run, now will he?
Flickr told their users via e-mail, another service acquired by Yahoo is doing it on their blog. MyBlogLog, the community for bloggers, have said so. Perhaps they heard the cry of tens of thousands of Flickr users not wanting to accept the fact that Yahoo owns their precious service. That’s the problem with tight communities – they can rally behind you, but also against you if you take a bad turn. Although I sincerely doubt that changing to the Yahoo ID is a groundshaking problem for neither Flickr nor MyBlogLog.
And Dunc, I’m sorry you can’t get your name. You should have been born in Sweden, that makes it a whole lot easier!

TDH, I’m not taking my game elsewhere yet, but a pile of Flickr users are, check Technorati and the Flickr boards for more. I may have no choice, but I still have the right not to like it, and I dont, you go through 15-20 minutes of trying to setup a Yahoo ID! There was absolutely ZERO reason why they couldn’t just continue as they’ve been doing for 12-18 months (longer even), dual logins, force new users to use a Yahoo ID by all means, but why punish the dedicated, long term members, many of whom have gone out of their way to promote the service.

BTW TDH, I bet my name is MORE unique than your name :-)…sh*t, I had to grow up with it after all, but I know there are LESS THAN 10 ppl in the world with my name (first/ last, not the middle). If it was all 3, I’m one of very, very few people in the world to say that I’ve got a name no one else has ….so beat that :-)

Easily. There’s no one with my name. ;)

Naturally, I’ve got a Yahoo ID .. but I avoid them, their start pages and anything I have to do to logon – because, last that I recalled .. it kept asking me to “prove” something every 15 minutes and re-log in. It was annoying.
