Yahoo! has announced some upgrades to its webmail system that it claims will make the service more useful.
Highlights include:
- easier sharing of photo attachments, up to 25MB in total size, simply by dragging and dropping from the desktop
- Emails from known contacts appear at the top of lists
- Facebook/Twitteresque status updates plus photo and video sharing in the “What’s New?” section
- A “gallery of innovative applications” that enhances inbox functionality by integrating third-party apps such as ZumoDrive and Flickr.
I’m not a Yahoo! Mail user, and I have to say that some of those feature lists sound very vague (anyone can say “innovative applications” without describing them)
Along with Yahoo!’s recent home page revamp, it does at least show that the once giant search provider is still trying to make its mark on a Google-centric Internet.
