It looks like those of you seeking out a white iPhone might be able to finally purchase one by 2011 in the US, but only if you are willing to embrace “big red” (aka Verizon).
We contacted our source and it was CONFIRMED that is a Verizon iPhone. In other words, our source was right 3 weeks ago. Also we got some more dirty details on what the deal is!
Evidently we were told the following (again, same source that was right before, but not confirmed from a secondary source).
1 – Verizon’s White iPhone 4 will go for about 199
2 – AT&T will not get the White iPhone 4 for nearly 4-6 months after the Verizon Exclusive deal. (Tribble Ad Agency)
Tribble Ad Agency goes on to say that the white iPhone would also be available only for new Verizon customers, particulary those who are willing to ditch AT&T (which will not make Ma Bell pleased).
Unlike its darker GSM sibling, the CDMA iPhone would not work on most global networks, which means users would need to purchase a new iPhone if they needed to travel outside of the US (as there are very few countries that support CDMA).
Unfortunately if Apple did launch a white iPhone for Verizon only, there would probably be lawsuits from users who paid for a white iPhone (and who have yet to receive one), as they could bring Steve Jobs to court over false advertising.
Thus far no one else seems to be confirming this tidbit, so for now we will safely put this in the “rumor box” and take this news with a large grain of salt.
