If you’re just starting your journey to becoming a working writer, you might be stifling the possibilities by not using the internet to its fullest potential. You have an opened world of possibilities at your fingertips! Don’t let it go to waste.
Millions of people surf the proverbial web daily, reading articles and blogs along the way. Your audience is automatic and versatile. Here are a couple of ways you might consider looking into that will help you to get your foot in the door as a writer and blogger.
Blog, Blog, Blog
Building up your own blog could be lucrative, but you will have to dedicate a lot of time to keeping it updated. You will also need to write about relevant subjects. If you specialize in technical writing, then keep it tech. If you specialize in fashion, stick to fashion. The income part comes in when companies pay to place their ads on your blog page.
You will have to build up a large following to receive more profitable offers. There’s also a webpage called ProBlogger that will pay you to blog for them if you are talented enough. This is a more structured way of blogging, but there’s stable money in it.
Content Writing
There’s plenty of demand for content writers. You will have to sign over all rights to the work you produce, but it’s fast, steady money if you write daily. It’s a great place to start if you’re not sure how to begin your career. There are literally hundreds of websites that offer money for beginning level writers to write articles on predetermined subject matters.
The simplest way to dig your toes into the soil of the industry would be to Google the position of content writing. This will help you build your writing skills, and teach you how the market works along the way (not to mention all the random knowledge you will pick up from your random assignments).
Ghostwriting
Now, some content writing is also a form of ghostwriting, but there are other ways to make money ghostwriting. There are several big corporate people who simply don’t have the time to keep up with their blogs and social media accounts. Often times they will hire a competent writer to write the blog and update their accounts. If you grab up the right job in this field, you could make quite a bit of money. You could also use your refined writing skills to help someone market their crowdfunding initiative. There are a lot of people that need help conveying their message. You could actually do some good in this position if you put a little heart into it.
