Location based social networking services like FourSquare are very huge right now, the same with messaging apps. Developing an app that will combine the two is practically inevitable. This is the kind of app that Wallit is. But this is not just a plain vanilla messaging app with geo-location features. Wallit has bigger objectives than that.
Wallit is an app that combines messaging, geo-location and augmented reality – another genre of apps that’s exploding right now. Wallit basically creates virtual walls in strategic areas and locations and then, using your smartphone, you can decorate it and post notes, graffiti or photos – all in real time. According to Veysel Berk, Wallit was created to “connect people at different locations.”
Wallit, which is currently available for the iOS (it will have an Android version in the future), has already set up 500 walls all over the world. It can be easily located using Wallit’s radar feature. Users of Wallit can write on the walls using their Facebook or Twitter logins. They can also choose to post messages anonymously.
Wallit is simple to use and has an uncomplicated user interface. At this point one of the hurdles that Wallit has to overcome is user acceptance. It needs to populate its walls with more users. Expect the app to be marketed aggressively this year.
