Do you have any favorite podcasts? If so, then you recognize that the available topics are all across the spectrum. There are podcasts about literally everything. So, if you are an activist of one sort or another, you might be looking at podcasts that shed light on modern problems. And maybe you are just listening to them, or perhaps you are producing them yourself. Either way, there are lots of topics that you can approach that add value to this category of thought.
Think about three big ones. First, the world is full of cyberattacks and the threat of cyberattacks. That makes for excellent podcast material. Second, the entire world is burning with social troubles. Bring a rational or irrational viewpoint to the table, and you are ready for a podcast. And third, maybe you want to explain science to a wider audience. There are some very in-depth topics with many technical details that need to get broken down for people if we’re going to have an enlightened society moving forward.
Cyber Attacks
In some way, shape, or form, who isn’t afraid of a cyber attack of some sort? If you are a business owner or manager, a cyber attack can take down your entire company. If you are an individual, a cyber attack can lead to identity theft. You want to protect and enhance your security at every point possible. Either producing a podcast on this topic or regularly listening to one means that you will be more well informed about an increasingly important issue.
Social Troubles
You don’t have to go too far to listen to someone tell you that the world is burning right now, literally and figuratively. There are fires on the West Coast that are the worst in history. And there are social issues that are simmering and erupting in violence all across the world. If you have a podcast that talks about these social troubles, there is a lot of material to work with. You can look at the most popular podcasts and find that they often take these topics on, or you can try and find a fresh perspective that you can present to your specific audience.
Explaining Science to a Wider Audience
Science is hard. You have to spend a long time to get an understanding of the technical details behind a lot of technology, biology, chemistry, and physics. But if you want to put together a really fantastic podcast, one way you can is by figuring out how to explain science to a wider audience. Look at the presentations by Bill Nye or other people of his ilk, and see what they’re trying to accomplish. Find out if this is something you’re interested in pursuing, and there is an audience waiting for you.
