Recently, I was up in arms over a simple thing like a deleted archive on a competitors site. We live in an information age. I enjoy viewing it and taking it in from all sides. I don’t believe any one of us has it right. That’s the joy we live in today. Perspective. The New media industry has a flurry of sources you can gather information from. Blogging, Video Blogging, Social News, Social Networking, Instant Messaging and Online TV. These are all new terms in our vernacular. It’s a new language. But what are we really saying? Are all these ways to communicate making life easier, simpler, or better in way shape or form?
Communication has become more sophisticated.
We now have all these widgets, gadgets, applications, and websites in which to connect, utilize, and socialize. But is it fulfilling at all? I haven’t figured it out. I do know that I no longer have to leave the house to find work. I don’t have to leave the house to order groceries, browse a book, read the work’s of Shakespeare, or dream up my next web venture. I can hire employees. I can fire employees. I can mail out checks. I can even date. I can have sex online. But has it made life better?
You know I think it is. Because new media, the internet, and technology has actually made life simpler. I can choose not to have a boss. I can choose not to be tied to the traditional lifestyles of society. And I can find freedom in that. All the lingo doesn’t really matter because in the end its just communicating. Plain and simple. The social networking of today is just plain healthy interaction of yesterday, today, and tommorow.
