TickEx, a vertical search engine in Britain, announced the launch of its GIG*gle application, which allows Facebook users to search for live events, such as sports games, live theatre and concerts in the US or UK.
“GIG*gle allows Facebook users not only to search for tickets, but also to see what tickets are available and which of their friends are interested in going. Social networking is now an integral part of the online experience, and millions of people are using sites such as Facebook to coordinate and plan social activities. This application gives them the ability to scour the world’s largest repository of tickets and invite their friends to see concerts, shows and sporting events, all from within their Facebook page,†TickEx CEO Richard Robinson said.
The TickEx site, which launched in Britain in the spring of 2007 and in the US in August 2007, allows users to use vertical search features to browse and compare tickets they find through artist, venue, cost, date and seat location. At present the site lists more than 15 million tickets in the US and Britain.
