It’s awards season once again at Threadless.com, the community-centric tee shirt design company, as the company announces its 2008 Bestee Awards.
The Bestees honor outstanding achievements in design and participation of the Threadless community. New to this year’s Bestee Awards, Threadless is taking crowdsourcing one step further by granting a $20,000 cash prize to the community’s pick for Design of the Year.
Established in 2007, The Bestee Awards celebrate significant achievements in various categories of Threadless participation, acknowledging the important work of the entire community. This not only includes the designers, but also bloggers, members who submit slogans and gallery photographers – all of whom contribute to making Threadless the world’s leading crowdsourced design community.
Beginning January 12th, all 326 designs released in 2008 will be in the running for the “Design of the Year” Bestee Award. On January 19th, 20 finalists will be selected based on the highest number of community votes and will be up for another round of online voting.
Threadless will also select a Designer of the Year – focusing more on an artist’s scope of work throughout the year rather than a single design – and grant the winner a $10,000 prize. Lastly, a $1,000 cash prize will be given to individuals for outstanding achievement in the following 10 categories: Newcomer of the Year, Unprinted Designer of the Year, Blogger of the Year, Gallery Photographer of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Groundbreaking Design of the Year, Best Use of Critique, Slogan of the Year, Select of the Year and Kids Design of the Year.
Winners of The 2008 Bestee Awards will be announced on February 2, 2009 on Threadless.com.
