If your business relies on technology, then it’s essential that you recognize how vital having sound systems of backup will be in the long run. If you have spent a lot of time, money, or energy on an idea and all of that effort is represented in a digital or virtual format, then what happens if your only source of that information gets damaged, lost, or corrupted? It can be a catastrophic failure. That’s why, for every critical piece of data that you have, there should be multiple copies of it across various sets of media.

You can look at your system of backups from a few different perspectives. First of all, any creative work that you have needs to be in more than one place and preferably should be in at least three. There are many different automated systems that can help you do this. Second, you need to back up your primary business server. Yes, you already have a backup system for your creative work, but you also need a backup system for all of your data and infrastructure. Lastly, if you want to make sure you have current backups for everything, then your backup system needs to be on a reliable cellular or Wi-Fi circuit. All of your data needs to be transferred immediately to different places when you’re working on it, which means you have to be connected to a reliable Internet connection for automated processes to work like they’re supposed to.
