Ice Cream Sandwich Adoption Going Slowly

The newest Android iteration, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich, has been released for months now but based on figures, not a lot of Android users have adopted the new generation Android OS yet. Google is meeting with a bit of resistance among Android users and this is proving to be a frustrating turn of events for the company.

According to Google, there was an improvement with the number of adopters to Ice Cream Sandwich, but when faced with the numbers, it was discovered that the number of adopters still remain quite small. Based on a 14 day period that ended on the first of June, only 7.1 percent of the android devices were installed with Ice Cream Sandwich, this is already a slight increase from the 4.9 percent share that was recorded for the first 14 days of May. One of the come-ons for the Android operating system is support Adobe Flash, much to the delight of people who love playing Farmville on Facebook. Adobe Flash support is one factor that makes people decide to get an Android smartphone or tablet instead of an Apple device. Android Jelly Bean rumored to follow Ice Cream Sandwich

Google has made a tradition of naming its various Android OS iterations after various desserts or sweet treats – you had Cupcake,Éclair, Froyo (which stands for frozen yogurt), Gingerbread, and the latest version to market Honeycomb. There is already talk of the development of the successor to Honeycomb, called Ice Cream Sandwich, which Android fans are waiting for. Talk is that it will be released sometime during the last quarter of this year. But even with Ice Cream Sandwich still on the horizon, there is now a rumor that a version that will succeed Ice Cream Sandwich is already being developed.
