It seems like October was a resting month for social networking users, as October site traffic from Compete indicates that the likes of Facebook, MySpace and Twitter didn’t actually register a significant growth.
Twitter’s site traffic for one registered a 2% decrease month over month. This is the same as its June traffic data and is actually lower than the previous months – July, August September.
Now, here’s the interesting part, Facebook which is currently at the no.3 spot in terms of site traffic not only registered a 3% increase but more significantly it now inches closer to Yahoo’s statistics. Meaning, Facebook site traffic is definitely growing. Total visitors of Facebook for October is at 129 million. It is now too far away from rival MySpace. But still 3rd only to Google and Yahoo.
Other sites such as Friendfeed which was recently acquired by Facebook, and Posterous also suffered from a decline in site traffic. Google is still on top, Apple’s MobileMe solution stops the email category, while LinkedIn and Monster.com were visited more by users.
