While it’s not surprising to discover that many people can’t live without their daily dose of social networking sites, some interesting statistics have emerged from the latest study by the consumer electronics shopping site Retrevo.com.
Where 56% of those who took part in the survey said they checked Facebook between one and ten times, over a quarter checked in over ten times each day.
One in three under-35s texts, tweets or uses Facebook straight after sex, compared to just 8% of over−35s, while two-thirds of under-35s don’t have any problem using these services at work.
Cellphone manufacturers know that under-35 in particular want to stay in touch while on the move, and the results of this survey show that nearly half of the younger generation use a mobile phone to access social networks. Even so, over half of them use a laptop, as do four-in-five over-35s.
Given that Twitter is designed for frequent checking, it’s not surprising that it was checked even more frequently than Facebook (though potentially for less time). Two out of five people checked Twitter at least ten times per day.
You can see all the results on the Retrevo blog post.
Are you surprised that we’re all turning into social media addicts? No, me neither.
