If you think that the Internet is the sanctuary of the younger generation, think again. According to Telegraph, a new study has revealed that people over 65 years old stay online for about 42 hours a week! This is about 4 hours more than the youth market.
“Many are extremley engaged with the internet and use it reguarly to keep in touch with family, to shop and take part in communities. It would be extremely foolish for any business to ignore the grey market. They spend a lot of money and contribute hugely to our economy,†said Age Concern spokesman to Telegraph.
Moreover, the female segment is more active online compared with men in the same bracket. This is a heads up to all marketing practitioners who take the silver surfers and the women segment for granted. In fact, the solo female market or those women aged 25-44 who never get married is a $1 trillion market by 2010.
