RiverWired, the content and social networking community for an eco-friendly audience, has raised $1.5 million in a round of seed-stage funding. RiverWired produces eco-friendly lifestyle web and video content for the RiverWired.com website as well as for third party video and community websites.
Currently in public beta launch, RiverWired is the online hub for all things green. The first website to provide both informative content and a social networking platform for the growing market of consumers and advertisers interested in green, eco-and environmentally-friendly lifestyle topics, RiverWired’s news, blogs and video content is available at www.riverwired.com as well as on popular websites including Crackle, Dailymotion, Veoh, Yahoo and YouTube.
RiverWired was founded by media and entertainment veteran Catherine Billon with the mission of connecting people, ideas and information for a more sustainable future. Billion’s successful track record includes over 20 years of experience devising and launching new businesses at both new and established companies such as Time Warner, Discovery Channel, Columbia Tri-Star and National Geographic.
