The global service outage that happened to the Blackberry network that lasted for several days to a week recently was not just a disaster in terms of service for Research in Motion, the company behind the Blackberry, it also created a huge public relations problem for the company, putting it in an extremely bad light. The people at RIM realizes that this is indeed a big public image problem for the company and is trying to find ways to appease irate Blackberry users.
One of the ways RIM plans to soothe over the situation is by offering a gifts to its users. The company has announced that it will be offering a selection of “premium apps†that are worth more than $100. These premium apps will be made available for free download at the Blackberry App World store over the coming weeks. Blackberry users can start accessing the apps beginning October 19 but there are some apps that may not be available until November 19. Subscribers will have until the end of December to download all of the apps that they want.
The apps that can be downloaded during the period are:
- SIMS 3 – Electronic Arts
- Bejeweled – Electronic Arts
- N.O.V.A. – Gameloft
- Texas Hold’em Poker 2 – Gameloft
- Bubble Bash 2 – Gameloft
- Photo Editor Ultimate – Ice Cold Apps
- DriveSafe.ly Pro – iSpeech.org
- iSpeech Translator Pro – iSpeech.org
- Drive Safe.ly Enterprise – iSpeech.org
- Nobex Radio™ Premium – Nobex
- Shazam Encore – Shazam
- Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant – Vlingo
RIM said that more apps will be added to the list and that Enterprise subscribers will be given a month of free technical support. Regular subscribers, on the other hand, will get a one month extension on their Technical Support contract free of charge. For those who are not part of the support program, they will be given a free one month trial.
