It’s been six months since the release of the iPhone 4S. The newest generation of Apple’s insanely popular smartphone came with a truly wonderful feature. Siri was the virtual assistant that captured the imagination of the Apple faithful. Apple boasted that it will be a game changer, but has it?
According to research conducted by Parks Associates among 482 iPhone 4S owners, it was discovered that 87 percent of the owners used Siri at least once a month. Among those questioned, slightly over half said they were very satisfied with the way Siri worked. Around 20 percent of the respondents said they are not as enthusiastic about Siri but still find that they are satisfied with it. About nine percent said they were unsatisfied with Siri.
The findings of Parks Associates also revealed the way Siri is mostly used. According to the report, majority of the iPhone 4S users used it to do simple tasks like placing calls or writing and sending email, even though Siri can do other more complicated tasks like search the web, set reminders or be used for getting directions.
Even though Siri can be used to access the music library and schedule meetings, not a lot used this function. Only 32 percent used Siri to play music, while only 35 percent used the virtual assistant for setting up meetings.
The overall findings of Parks Associates is that using Siri has not been very consistent and it’s not being widely used to perform different functions. One reason could be because it is still not as reliable as everyone thinks – it is still a beta version, after all.
