Remember the website preview utility that everyone loves to hate? Well along comes iReader and adds ‘usefulness’ to Snap and to a large degree takes the ‘annoying’ out of it.

When comparing these two products, it would help if you showed the links they were prevewing. Its not clear what the iReader product is really adding value to…
Also, I still dont see how semantic web ‘related’ content can help me figure the ‘design’ or ‘brand equity’ or even the ‘visual’ nature of a site.
I do agree that iReader supplies useful information about a link… but its def. not replacing the value of an image for me. Rem the phrase a picture is worth a thousand words?
Maybe those Snap guys will take a look at how to add semantic web type information to their Snap Preview Anywhere product? That would be cool!

I largely agree with you, a picture is worth a thousand words, but a picture of illegible text is worth nothing.

True that some of the images that I have seen dont have legible text, but I guess for me its less about reading text… and more about gainging insight into what the page has in store for me…
It seems that your missing the point of the images…
My expectation from images of that size is NOT gee what does that article on robots say… but… oh its that site I rem my friend talking about that has articles on robots… it either reminds me of something i have seen before or lets me know what kind of page is being linked to… hence why I mentioned the pictures worth a thousand words phrase…
And… as an added bonus in some cases, you actually can read text elements on the page!
