Paramount Pictures has just launched a new online service called Inscene aimed at making available bits and pieces of movie clips from its movie catalog. Initially available for business customers such as ad agencies, mobile carriers and foreign broadcasters who want use movie clips for commercial use, the site allows them to purchase slices of movie clips produced by Paramount for various purposes such as embedding on website, for news broadcast or mobile consumption.
Think of Inscene as your mobile phone ring tones for movie clips instead of audio files, and you’d get an idea how it will work.
So when you have a particular Paramount movie in mind, you can search for the movie clip at the site and quickly check it out. The site will then deliver the movie clips to you electronically in the format and resolution you specified.
Prices for individual movie clips vary, depending on how old the movies are and their popularity.
For us, consumers who want to partake of this service, pricing and other details are yet to be known. Paramount will still test the viability of the service before making it available to the public.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for video snippets from the Godfather or Forrest Gump, you might want to check out YouTube instead. There’s a big chance that you’ll find something there for free.
But of course, nothing beats the original, Paramount Pictures’ Inscene is still worth a look when it becomes available for public consumption.
