iOS vs. Android Development

The two headliners of the smartphone platform are Android and iOS. These two have reached ahead of the competition for numerous reasons and are the most sought after in the market. Moreover, numerous Apps are available for both these platforms. Although, between the two of them, it is not that difficult to find a winner.  Let us explore the different development features of both platforms:

To develop apps for iOS and list them on the App store is very expensive. It costs about $99 per year and you have to adhere to some strict rules and regulation put in place by Apple. Your app also has to pass a screening process before it can be released Developing apps for the Android Phone is comparatively cheaper and less restricted by rules. Google simple takes a $25 flat fee to shelf your apps, plus an extra $20 if you plan to charge for its usage. Quentin Tarantino in a “Crazy” Japanese Commercial

We all love Quentin “Pulp Fiction” Tarantino, agreed? And we also know how weird can he can get. But can you actually dig what Mr. Q is doing in this Japanese commercial? It’s not that there’s something wrong with making a fool out of yourself in exchange for probably millions of yen, but for the sake of reporting can somebody tells us what’s happening in the commercial? Anybody can translate the commercial for us? Or better yet, send us the transcripts?

It’s a commercial for Japan’s Soft Bank, right? As you can see from the video, there was Quentin clad in Japanese Kimono, talking to two Japanese ladies eating noodles from Ajinomoto, a robot dog on a table a real dog together with a Japanese guy. Then the phone attached to the robot dog rings, and an American lady was seen yelling at Quentin on the phone.

Now, what can you deduce from this commercial?

It’s cute though. They all seem so serious about it.

Hardware Failure Rate Highest Among Android Phones

Android has suffered a serious knock with news that it is more unreliable compared to the iPhone and BlackBerry.

In a study conducted by WDS, a company that provides specialist managed services for the wireless industry, it was discovered that Android phones were more likely to suffer from hardware problems compared iOS, Blackberry and Windows 7 devices.

The study was conducted over the course of a year and focused on customer service support calls. About 600,000 tech support calls were part of the study. Of that number, 14 percent were calls for Android phones that suffered a hardware failure. This is followed closely by Windows phones, which accounted for 11 percent of the calls. [Read more…]

Samsung Galaxy Skin for 2012 release

Samsung’s design aesthetics when it comes to its phone can be a hit or miss affair but although the company may have released some duds in terms of phone functionality or design, it has also released a lot of winners. Samsung has a lot of sought-after phones and I’ve got a very strong feeling that the Samsung Galaxy Skin is going to be one of them.

The Samsung Galaxy Skin was originally presented to the public as a design concept. And the reason was obvious – the Galaxy Skin uses a component that hasn’t been seen on a phone ever before – a flexible AMOLED display. Using this material makes the display totally bendable. Motorola announces Droid Razr, The Thinnest Android Phone

It’s long been reported that Motorola keeps getting different “Razr” related domain names even though it hasn’t released any new phones in ages. The domain name acquisition obviously means the company is planning on releasing new phones in the future and that time is now as Motorola has announced a new Razr phone.
