The Android Market recently reached a historic milestone as it recorded about 10 billion apps downloaded since it was opened. Google announced that to commemorate this record number of downloads it has partnered with a number of Android app developers to offer a number of apps at very reasonable prices, an understatement given that these apps will be made available for only 10 cents. Adobe releases Flash Player 11.1 for Android

Adobe announced that it has released the newest version of its Flash Player for the Android mobile operating system. The new version, 11.1, now supports Android’s version 4.0 (also known as Ice Cream Sandwich) of its popular operating system. The new update is now available for download from the Android Market. Alongside the new Flash Player version, Adobe also announced that it will be releasing a new version of Adobe Air – version 3.1. Some Factors Contribute to Android UI Lag

Android users may have noticed that they would experience a lag when using the touch interface, a glitch you won’t see on any of the mobile operating systems from Apple, Research in Motion or Microsoft.

The real problem, according to Andrew Munn, is that Android has difficulty with the interface due to the way it handles rendering. Android, according to observations he posted on Google +, handles the rendering on the main  thread with normal priority. Government Report claims LightSquared’s Service Affects Flight Systems

New wireless service provider LightSquared is being wracked by very negative reports regarding its technology. According to test made by the National Executive Committee for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing, LightSquared’s proposed LTE service interferes with the flight safety system. Specifically, it affects the alerts given to pilots about approaching terrain.

The FAA conducted the test of the flight control systems. The test revealed that LightSquared’s system actually creates a lot of interference in the safety system that was devised to alert pilots if it is going to encounter terrain or any kind of obstructions within its flightpath. [Read more…]
