What is it with the iPhone that its rivals keep on attacking it with their iPhone mocking ads? Even AT&T wasn’t spared from Verizon’s anti-iPhone campaign tactics.
So now, Verizon’s latest foray has Motorola’s support, of course mainly because Moto’s got an Android-power phone that directly competes with the iPhone. In their latest concerted effort to mock and put bring the iPhone down, at least to prospective iPhone users, the ad this time belittles and insults the iPhone’s by referring to it as all beauty with no brawns.
Aside from the fact that it has some masochistic undertones, Motorola and Verizon misses the point why the iPhone clicks among male users. The thing is  male users treat their gadgets, in this case the iPhone so dearly like their second girlfriend.
And that’s the reason why the iPhone needs to be beautiful. When it comes to anything that they can carry around men still prefer to bring something beautiful. Toughness and durability only comes second if not third or fourth.
That’s what the Droid ad missed which I hope you our dear readers won’t miss.

Droids not too tough as it turns out. While it is thicker and more like a brick than the stylish, well-designed iPhone, Droid has had numerous problems with poorly designed hardware since its launch.
The two most reported and obvious problems have been with the cover for its battery and its video camera.
Listen to Droid commercials and Verizon knocks Apple for not having replaceable batteries. But Moto did such a bad job on the hardware design for their battery door cover that untold numbers of Droid owners are filling forums and bulletin boards with their complaints. The cheap door/cover keeps falling off!
Verizon also brags about the Droid 5 megapixel video camera, saying its better than Apple’s. But thousands of new Droid owners have been waiting weeks for a software fix to remedy the Droid camera’s lack of ability to focus.
So, how tough is that? Don’t let Verizon fool you. They don’t make the Droid — Moto does. Verizon doesn’t supply the OS either — Google does. And the Droid is no industrial strength macho handset like Verizon would like you to think.

Whatever my door stays on,the camera thing might be right but I’m tired of people who praise a phone that has been out for years and down a phone thats been out a month. Months! I recall the iPhone not being able to send mms messages at one point. What? First storm did it, the first droid did it but, what about the first iPhone? the 3G! Ok how about coverage? Don’t wanna invest in a phone if I can’t do what’s most important! CALL PEOPLE! Key word in iPhone is Phone. Didn’t buy a phone for 93,000 apps that wont fit on my phone all at one time. Love my extra battery and extra SD card! Now can ur phone and your network do that BIG APPLE! I think not! Your to greedy for that. U want people to keep buying your phone then do what droid does. Let people make clear, undropped calls! Otherwise just call it a Mac Mobile Mini, that attemps to make calls!

Had em both. iPhone – More user friendly. Droid – More Linux like. I’ll take the Linux. Either way – they’re not Winblows.

Don – Points well taken, thank you.
Johnny – I sense so much hate for the iPhone in you. Chill out buddy, those flaws are rolling Apple’s payroll.
Andy – Lucky for you, you were able to experience both. Looking forward to the Droid’s release in our country.

i have experienced both and will say this…i wish the iphone were available on the VZW network, but at the same time it is good to have something like android come along and really up the stakes for the soon to start war of smartphones. i prefer the weight and heft of the droid, and i received my patches for the camera this weekend over the air…it works AWESOME now. i never felt the iphone was really a phone…just an ipod with a camera. that said, thank god we have 2 phones now to choose from…it will only make both better in the end.

The reality here is they are similar devices, what I am most sick of is app market size being used as a comparision tool. I would like to hear from some iPhone users here; Name one useful app that cannot be found in the android market? The Android market is nearing 20,000 apps now and of that, there are probably 100 or less that anyone really wants. I am guessing the same goes on the iPhone… My take on the two phones is simply this, if you are not techy buy a iphone, if you know your way around technology get a droid. Apple does a good job of hand holding and wont let you do anything to get hurt. Android devices will let you do whatever you want, though it may be painful.
The same debate is said between PCs and Macs, Apple only allows propietary crap on their systems thus sheltering the user. PCs give you the world, but the world is a dangerous place.

Well it’s been a few months now, and the Droid rocks. The FACT is the DROID is a linex handheld PC with VOIP. The open design means that over time and with a superior network the iPONE has real competition.
Remember the Palm TREO? Seen one lately? iPONES can go away just a quickly.
