Jeremy Schoemaker, well known SEO and author of the ShoeMoney blog has been banned by the now Yahoo! owned MyBlogLog following Jeremy’s exposure of serious security flaws in the MyBlogLog setup.
Whilst MyBlogLog employees argue in the thread of Jeremy’s “banned from MyBlogLog” post that he wasn’t banned for exposing the flaws, but banned for exposing user information in explaining how the flaws could be implemented, it still smells like and looks like a case of MyBlogLog shooting the messenger, and notably whilst they were quick to defend their decision to ban him, they made no effort what so ever to either recognize the serious nature of the exploits in their system nor even commit to fixing them.
Jeremy Schoemaker is highly regarded both within the SEO community and outside of it, and the decision can and will only result in a backlash against the service, as indeed can already be seen in the comment threads at ShoeMoney.
Certainly whilst I personally continue to use the service, given the seemingly complete lack of concern given to the security issues, it’s a service I’ll be thinking twice about using again in the near future.

Duncan — please take a look at our blog and verify that we have done nothing to address the security holes that have been brought up by Shoe and others.
