A recently leaked photo online showed what may be a new innovation that Microsoft is going to bring to its Windows Phones. The photo shows a curved, onscreen keyboard that you’re supposed to operate with just one hand.
The photo was leaked by website WMPoweruser, which also reported that the curved keyboard has been in development since a year ago. The curved keyboard looks like it is just going to be a secondary function or option to the more well-established QWERTY keyboard that has been implemented with smartphones and touchscreen phones. The curved keyboard , which shows grouped letters, may well function like the traditional T9 number keys that was the default key configuration of feature phones and mobile phones for almost two decades. The curved keyboard may have been design to address two things. First, it looks more ergonomic and follows the natural placement of a hand when it holds a phone. The second factor may be to allow users to type without having to constantly look at their phones. A current limitation of smartphones or touchscreen phones is that you have to constantly look at the screen or the keys to make sure that you’re typing words correctly. The curved keyboard may make it easier to type without taking a look at the phone constantly.
Based on the leaked photo and rumors, the curved keyboard may make an appearance in Windows 8 and Windows 7.8 phones.
