Local.com, a local search engine that lists over 16 million businesses nationwide, today announced the launch of enhancements to the site’s interactive geographic mapping capabilities including a streamlined look and feel and improved driving directions.
Local.com’s latest maps take advantage of state-of-the-art mapping technology with maps that are larger and easier to read with more clearly defined boundary delineations and magnified names on major roads and freeways. In addition, business information and driving directions are accessible directly on the interactive map screen. The maps present a more user-friendly interface that enables users to utilize scroll zoom and “click-and-drag” capabilities. The site’s new and improved driving directions also offer more detailed data, “reverse directions” and more printer friendly formats.
“According to Internet research firm comScore, 47 percent of local search users go on to visit a local business as a result of their search. Consequently, innovative mapping technology has quickly become one of the most important and popular aspects of local search,” said Kim LaFleur, vice president of product management, Local.com.
