Here’s a piece of advice: If you round up a bunch of bloggers for an event to further your understanding of the medium, or whatever, then don’t ask them to e-mail you scoops!
That’s what WNBC-TV, a New York local TV station owned by NBC, did recently. 130 bloggers, and now they want them to do the dirty work?
The local New York TV station hosted more than 130 bloggers at an evening event last week at NBC headquarters and ended up alienating most of them by begging them to e-mail in scoops.
That’s from the New York Post article. Fun stuff. Old media might be waking up in some cases, but it’s certainly not a global movement…
Luckily it’s not all bad, despite the tacky take on things. WNBC have a post up on the whole thing, including a survey they conducted on how bloggers see themselves before the event. Pie charts and everything. Maybe there is hope after all?
