The Globe and Mail in Toronto is reporting that Google has been indexing businesses up north in a push to move their GOOG-411 service live past American borders.
The Maple Leaf country is often a second-class citizen when it comes to getting the latest technology.
Personally, I NEVER have had luck with the Google service. In fact, I’m pretty certain that one day they will release recordings of my rants and raves.
I’m not sure why, but it’s by far the worst voice-recognition system I’ve encountered in recent memory. Maybe I just talk funny.
Sorry Canada, there’s not much to be excited about. Not even a Stanley Cup.

The Google number isn’t the only free d.a. number out there. In fact, we at 1-800-FREE411 have been offering free d.a. since 2005, and we actually have a broader range of listings. I’d be interested in seeing your comparison of these two numbers.

Another service provides DA throughout canada. They can reply to your request via SMS. Don’t have to listen to advertisements or talk to an automated machine. Just type in the city, province and the listing that you need and you’ll receive their response right away. Service is free this month so go ahead give it a try.
