Flickr made a number of announcements 2 days ago, and the following deserves a special mention:
In our ongoing efforts to Make Flickr BetterTM, we’re introducing two additional limits: the new maximum number of contacts is 3,000 contacts (good luck with that), and each photo on Flickr can have a maximum of 75 tags.
Limiting the number of users you can network with on a site that urges you to “join some groups and make some friends”? Bold move Flickr.
Needless to say people are not happy about this move. At least not the 300 users who have more than 3,000 friends, and the people that own the 0.00156% of the photos on Flickr that have more than 75 tags.

I have neither more than 3000 contacts nor do I have a photos with more than 75 tags; but I’m not happy with this move, specially about the former one limiting the number of frds we can add!
Flickr should spend more efforts to make the service better rather than “limiting” what we can currently do.

Imposing a “salary cap” is not the way to deal with potential spam.
Is this Plan B, guys? Nice.

Hmmm .. I don’t have 3000 contacts, so I don’t really care about that. But I actually think the limiting of the tags is a good idea. I’ve tried to search for photos before, but there are a few photographers who put hundreds of tags in their photos that have nothing to do with it. Incredibly frustrating. And really, do you need more than 75 tags to describe a photo?

Ridic. IMO.
