A fierce competition exists among the different web browsers for market share and right now Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are in the top three.
According to a report published by Net Applications, Microsoft Internet Explorer still maintains the lead with a significant 52.84 percent of the market but it is in the fight for second place that things get interesting.
The Net Applications report showed that despite a surge in the usage of Google Chrome at the end of 2011, Mozilla Firefox is still the second most used web browser in the PC environment, mainly because Chrome lost market share in February 2012 (along with Internet Explorer). The report said that Firefox has a two percent lead on Chrome, which has an 18.9 percent share of the market. Chrome slipped one percentage point from a high 19.11 that was reported in December 2011. Actually, Internet Explorer also lost market, a drop of 0.12 percent. The Safari browser from Apple also reported an increase in market share in February, increasing its market share from 4.9 percent to 5.24 percent. Opera also increased market share from 1.67 percent to 1.71 percent.
It should be noted though that different research firms have different methods for calculating the market share of browsers. These differences are actually significant enough that it could change the order of the browsers’ place on the list. So in a way, take this report with a grain of salt.

Can’t image IE still takes so big part of market. Most of the users of IE are enterprises I think, all of my friends have switched to other browsers. I also have IE9 in my win7, but it just a part comes from windows.I mainly use chroem, firefox and Avant browser these three now.
The lose of chrome in Feb I think has something to do with the new privacy policy
