Facebook has announced that it is putting up an App Center that will be accessed first in the United States. The people behind Facebook are hoping that the new App Center will encourage people to look at the current applications available in the center and also be informed of new apps.
The new App Center has been designed to help push users to install more applications. The apps in the Center will also list down which of the user’s friends have installed it on their Facebook page or on their mobile device. The main App Center page, on the other hand, will give users a quick view of what applications have been recommended by other Facebook users as well as any applications that the user’s Facebook friends have used recently. This is a great feature because it will give you an idea what games you can install and play to connect with your friends. The same goes for applications that you want to use and connect with them, like Instagram.
The left side of the App Center page offers different filters so that the user can browse the applications by the different categories – news, games, entertainment, music, sports, etc. The applications can then be further segregated between mobile applications and web only applications. Current app requests from the user’s Facebook friends are also indicated at the bottom. The user can choose to either acknowledge the request by installing the same application or just ignore the request.
The App Center has been implemented on both the iOS and Android applications as well.
