Japan’s NTT DoCoMo, the leading mobile company in Japan, recently revealed a new prototype Android smartphone that could potentially shake up the tech community because of its innovation.
The new device is a smartphone that has a transparent dual-sided touchscreen display. It was officially unveiled by DoCoMo last week at the Wireless Japan Show held in Tokyo, Japan.
The new technology used on the smartphone was developed in partnership with Fujitsu. With the new technology, the user can carry out different tasks on the back screen so that the view on the front display is unobstructed. It’s a common complaint among touchscreen users that whenever they try to use the screen part of the display is obstructed by the user’s hand. In principle, the touch control at the back mimics Sony’s PS Vita’s touch controls located at the back of the gaming device, which was also incorporated for additional controls without obstructing the view of the user. With the DoCoMo touchscreen technology, both the front and back touchscreens can be used at the same time, a level of control that can open up new, as yet unforeseen, uses.
DoCoMo is not the first company to develop a dual touch screen display but it is the first to incorporate Android into the mix, which makes it as close to a working device as possible. The prototype display only measures 2.4 inches, which is miniscule compared to the display standards people are used to nowadays. But DoCoMo said that it plans to develop larger displays in the future. DoCoMo is also working on making the screen brighter, an issue with the current displays.

I had a feeling they would come up with something like that. I wonder if they are going to make big screen TVs like that too.
