AdWeek reports that Metacafe has hired former Yahoo! and Disney executive Scott Bushman as VP for Business Development.
Bushman is responsible for cultivating relationships with global media companies, overseeing content licensing deals and determining other viable growth opportunities for the company within the short-form video arena.

The International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI) is confident that it will win the lawsuit against Yahoo China for allegedly helping online music pirates.
In April, IFP, the representative of major record labels such as Universal Vivendi, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group, filed a copyright infringement against Yahoo China because its search engine and Web sites link to outside sites carrying a total of 229 pirated songs.
Although the court has already asked Yahoo China to pay for damages worth $27,000, the company filed for an appeal. Now, the Beijing court upheld the previous ruling in favor of IFP.
A spokesman of Yahoo China declined to comment for they have not seen the latest ruling yet. Moreover, he mentioned the company is already in talks with record labels to create a licensed download service.

Compiling billions of searches worldwide, Yahoo has released its Top Trends in Search in 2007 to capture the “fascinating portrait of a culture on the brinkâ€.
To understand better these search trends, Yahoo has segmented the top searches in different categories from news to product recalls.
“Searches can give us insight into a culture in motion and Yahoo!’s Top Trends in Search in 2007 reflects the world’s fascination with crossroads and breakthroughs. People weren’t just buzzing about celebrity.
