Treemo unveils Channel Player widget

treemo.pngTreemo, a real-time social media publishing platform dedicated to sharing any type of media anywhere, unveiled its new Channel Player widget that users can embed on websites, blogs, MySpace and integrate as a Facebook application to allow for automatic publishing of photo, video, audio and textual content uploaded to Treemo.

Each user gets their own Treemo Channel where they program their photos, videos, audio and text and share content within the Treemo community or among personal groups. The Channel Player lets users play the latest 24 content items from their or any other Treemo Channel. Users can simply embed the Channel Player in any web page, blog, or wiki to showcase the latest content from users’ favorite channels.

PassAlong Networks launches Rstr playlist widget

rostr.pngPassAlong Networks launched Rostr, a customizable and interactive web playlist widget that enables artists, labels, fans and brands to extend their reach into social networks while offering users a unique tool for displaying their music tastes.

Rostr allows users to create and display a list of songs they want to exhibit on their social network profile page or on their blog. Visitors can listen to samples of the listed songs and then follow links to where they can purchase the showcased tracks. Users can customize the widget with a variety of colors and by allowing friends to rate and comment on their music selection, while visitors can easily click-through to create their own Rostr playlist widget or duplicate an existing widget.

In addition to Rostr, PassAlong recently launched a series of co-branded OnTour widgets featuring artists like Barenaked Ladies, Alicia Keys, Mario, Cassidy and others.

AOL launches Hot Seat, a syndicated political widget

AOL has launched Hot Seat, a syndicated online political widget on AOL News. Hot Seat features daily political poll questions from some of the biggest political bloggers on the Internet, including The Huffington Post, Time’s Swampland, Slate, The Politico, Crooks & Liars, Power Line and Captain’s Quarters. The questions address current political issues and events as a way to stimulate a dialogue between voters, pundits and politicians. “Hot Seat” also features responses from major presidential candidates to specific questions posed to them by bloggers and pundits.

Hot Seat will be displayed on all AOL News, Elections and Political Machine pages as well as participating sites outside the AOL network. The Hot Seat widget showcases real-time poll question results on both a national and state-by-state level, while letting users share and discuss their views with users of various sites. Through “Hot Seat,” candidates will be given an opportunity to respond to questions and comment on the results of the various polls while providing an outlet that allows the public to become deeply engaged and integrated in the political blogosphere.

In addition to Hot Seat, AOL will provide comprehensive coverage of the campaigns. AOL’s Political Machine blog provides political coverage that combines blog posts from academics, journalists and the voting public. In the coming months, election coverage will also feature a Straw Poll that will house weekly candidate polls with real-time results and track the races for both parties. General election results will include additional local information, including county data, interactive maps and mobile distributions.

Ribbit SmartSwitch is the core technology behind this startup company. It is a sophisticated multi-protocol soft-switch that bridges the worlds of traditional telephony with next generation networks and protocols.

It works well from any location with an Internet connection and with any Flash-enabled browser. Compared to existing VoIP operators, users can receive and place calls without downloading any soft-phone application.

Ribbit supports other Web-based services including Skype, Google Talk, and MSN. It can even transcribe voicemail to text messages similar to what other paid services like SpinVox and Simulscribe do.

meebo’s hits another milestone with over 20 million unique users per month

In addition to reaching 6.5 million unique users monthly at meebo.com, the company has seen adoption and usage of meebo rooms widgets grow substantially from the May 2007 launch. In November alone, 16.5 million unique users visited meebo widgets distributed across the Web by partners and users. Combining users of both meebo.com and meebo widgets, the company now estimates its reach at more than 20 million people in November 2007.

Today, meebo also announced that it has tailored meebo rooms, Partner Edition, to function seamlessly inside Facebook applications. Social network application providers BuddyMedia, (fluff)Friends, RockYou, Slide, The Broth and WaterCooler, Inc. have begun implementing meebo rooms, Partner Edition, to connect people live with their friends directly inside highly-trafficked applications.

Beginning next year, meebo rooms, Partner Edition, will give developers a hassle-free revenue stream for integrating live interaction functionality into their communities and applications. meebo will run unobtrusive, user-friendly and engaging ads inside meebo rooms and will then share a portion of the revenue with partners.
