KickApps integrates ClipBlast! video search and embedding

ClipBlast! has partnered with KickApps to integrate ClipBlast!’s video search into the KickApps Platform.

Using ClipBlast!, members of a KickApps powered website can easily search and embed online videos from premium video publishers, YouTube and other video sharing websites onto KickApps powered blogs, message board posts, member-to-member messages, comments on other member profiles, and the “About Me” section of their profile.

To enable ClipBlast! search and embed, KickApps Affiliates must activate the 3rd Party Video Embeds option from the KickApps Affiliate Center. Their website members will then be able to perform searches using ClipBlast! through the KickApps rich-text editor, and can simply embed videos into blogs and posts with a single click.

comScore releases Japan search engine rankings

comScore released its ranking of the top search properties in Japan based on data from the comScore qSearch service. In September, 5.9 billion searches were conducted in Japan with each searcher conducting an average of 96 searches during the month. Yahoo! Sites led in search query volume with 3 billion searches, followed by Google Sites with 2.3 billion searches.

Yahoo! Sites led the search ranking in Japan with more than 3 billion searches, representing a 51 percent market share, followed by Google Sites with 2.3 billion searches (39 percent market share). Rakuten Inc. captured the third position with 120 million searches (2 percent market share) and Microsoft Sites ranked fourth with 90 million searches (1.5 percent market share).

In September, more than 340 million searchers conducted nearly 29 billion searches in the Asia-Pacific region, ranking it as the largest searcher population and search volume total of the five global regions reported by comScore. China had the largest searcher population in the region with more than 149 million searchers, and the greatest number of searches conducted (12.8 billion). Japan ranked second on both measures with more than 61 million searchers and nearly 6 billion searches. Australia exhibited the heaviest search intensity with an average of 115 searches per searcher during the month, followed by South Korea (109 searches per searcher) and Singapore (106 searches per searcher).

AT&T releases online video search application

AT&T Inc. announced the public beta of VideoCrawler, a new web application designed to provide a better way for people to search for, organize and share online videos and other multimedia content.

Developed in collaboration with Divvio, VideoCrawler indexes hundreds of millions of video clips from thousands of sites, with new sites and millions of clips added every day. Enter a search term and you’ll receive consolidated results from across this vast index. From there, you can organize your favorites into collections, which you can choose to keep private or share with others via the VideoCrawler site or social networking widgets.

“We want to do everything possible to connect customers to the content they want, and today more than ever, what they want online is social media,” said Sean O’Leary, vice president, AT&T Business Development. “With thousands of popular video web sites, it’s become more and more challenging
to find, sort and manage all of the best clips that are out there. That’s exactly what we’re working to solve with VideoCrawler by allowing users to search from an index of the most popular media sources from across the web.”
