uBroadcast launches new comedy site

ubroadcast, Inc. has successfully launched “ubroadcast Comedy”, the first in a series of content specific web sites currently under development.

The company has designated channel 200 as its new Comedy Channel, which in conjunction with the new comedy specific web site, will feature Independent comedy broadcasters, as well as showcase professional scheduled broadcasts.

The first regularly scheduled show on the new ubroadcast Comedy Channel is the Lunatic Radio show and airs every Sunday at 5PM EST. Lunatic Radio is a live and interactive “Vulgar, awkward, and sometimes funny” broadcast that interviews a wide range of guests, including comedians Dane Cook, Jamie Kennedy, Michael Ian Black, and musician Richard Patrick, most notably from the band, Filter.

PodShow’s “Backstage Pass” hits one million views

PodShow announced that its show, “BackStage Pass,” was viewed more than one million times during its 10-day run of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. This announcement comes on the heels of BackStage Pass’ debut at the UK’s Digital Music Awards, which also attracted more than one million views. Peak viewing times for both events were more than 20 minutes, with overall viewing time for the SBIFF at 22 minutes.

“BackStage Pass” is a hugely popular behind-the-scenes entertainment show available on PodShow’s live channel, thePLUS. ThePLUS enables millions of viewers around the world to tune in simultaneously and contribute to the programming of the channel.

SBIFF was produced by PodShow and MediaTrust. Scott Parent, vice president of search and social media optimization division at MediaTrust, together with his production team, captured more than 30 exclusive interviews from A-list Hollywood talent during the 10-day event. PodShow teams designed a complete media experience around the live content and used its network to deliver and promote the live stream. Footage was packaged into nine “episodes” for thePLUS, as well as Hi-Definition video podcasts – a first in the film festival industry.

To date, it is estimated that nearly half a million unique visitors watched the SBIFF, returning on average two times for the duration of the event, generating an average viewing time of 22 minutes each.

Washingtonpost.com and Newsweek to host live Super Tuesday election coverage

In an unprecedented endeavor on Super Tuesday (February 5th), washingtonpost.com and Newsweek, national leaders in political news, will offer six hours of continuous live video coverage of the election returns alongside the most comprehensive online reporting from every primary state. washingtonpost.com and Newsweek are combining the best of video and political journalism to create a unique interactive experience.

Enhancing the video experience, users will be able to interact in a live discussion forum that the video hosts will draw upon for questions. In-depth, comprehensive analysis and continuously updated blog posts from Washington Post reporters on “The Trail” will be available on the Post Politics page, in addition to interactive U.S. maps with polls, results and delegate counts. washingtonpost.com will also offer mobile alerts for people to receive immediate updates on individual primaries and candidates on their phones.

The live video will be available between 6:00 pm – Midnight ET on washingtonpost.com/postpoliticstv and through washingtonpost.com and Newsweek.com’s homepages.

Amazon acquires Audible for $300 million

Amazon has acquired Audible.com, provider of audio books and other spoken word audio content, for $300 million in cash and short-term investments.

“This deal brings together two pioneering companies that share a long history of ceaseless focus on improving the customer experience,” said Donald Katz, founder and chief executive of Audible.com. “We are very excited to be joining a company as innovative as Amazon.com.”
