Retailer of independent music eMusic announced that its worldwide catalogue has now exceeded four million tracks with roster now at 40,000 record labels.

Additional titles to the eMusic catalogue include the recent, critically-acclaimed album from Nine Inch Nails, “The Slip” (The Null Corporation) as well as classic titles from Liz Phair and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Blackheart Records).

eMusic provides online music and audio books in the universally compatible MP3 format at prices as low as 39 cents per track. eMusic, however, still stands behind iTunes.

Clear Channel Radio and Katz Media Group has launched Katz Online Network, a new online radio network, dubbed as having the broadest reach and most diverse content of any online audio network.

The network outpaces its nearest competitor by some 300% and is also the first to incorporate independent Internet radio stations with the online and mobile streams of leading AM, FM stations and popular syndicated content. The Katz Online Network delivers 79 million sessions per month and a unique audience of nearly five million listeners per week.

Advertising at the Katz Online Network will be sold by a dedicated group of digital audio specialists within Katz 360 Sales, Clear Channel Online Music & Radio and Premiere Radio Networks. In addition to audio spots within streams, advertisers can also combine pre-roll audio or video, display or video ads as well as synchronized banners on online media players.

Retailer of indie music eMusic begins a major transformation of its website with the aim of becoming the place for music discovery on the web. A host of new Web 2.0 features will offer eMusic customers more musical context than any other site by pulling in relevant content from around the web and allowing them to share their finds with their friends on major social networks, bookmarking sites and blogs.

The new features break the online music retail mold and recognize that consumer music discovery behavior has changed with the popularity of social networking sites, blogs and simply the vast amount of information available on the web.

The first of the changes will be integrated into a redesigned eMusic album page, the most popular page on the site. eMusic customers will not only see album information and tracklisting on the page, they will see imported content from YouTube, Flickr and Wikipedia for the artist whose music they are exploring.

eMusic’s “taste-making” customers can also now share their finds outside the eMusic community. They can bookmark the album page or send it to their social network feed on 18 of the most popular social media sites, including Facebook, Digg, Del.icio.us, Twitter, Stumble Upon and more. eMusic will add support for more sites over time.
