JuiceCaster mobile social network enters European market

Juice Wireless announced that JuiceCaster is now available on mobile devices across Europe. The video-based service allows anyone with a camera-enabled mobile phone to create and consume rich-media content from their wireless devices and the web, and automatically share it with their friends and family.

JuiceCaster puts the power of broadcasting in the hands of consumers and professionals on-the-go, enabling them to become news anchors and distributors of original, creative and relevant content, as well as keep in touch with their loved ones. Whether skiing in the Alps or sailing down the coast of France, individuals can capture their fun, memorable moments and share them with friends worldwide. JuiceCaster, currently offered in English, will soon be available in Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

ProGames Network brings Godzilla to mobile gamers

godzilla.pngProGames Network announced the addition of “Godzilla – Monster Mayhem” to its mobile games inventory. The company owns worldwide rights, with the exception of Japan, to the distribution of the game, based on the cult-classic movie Godzilla.

One of the most compatible games created to-date, Godzilla is available for download on more than 683 phones programmed for English, 379 German programmed phones, 559 Spanish programmed phones and 597 Italian programmed phones.

The new Godzilla game can be downloaded to mobile phones by visiting the premium section of ProGames’ Mobile Zone or via mobile devices.

Microsoft agrees to acquire Danger Inc.

Microsoft Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire Danger Inc., the company responsible for the software and services powering many popular consumer handsets. The acquisition will align Danger’s nearly 10 years of expertise in the mobile consumer space with Microsoft’s vision to provide innovative and compelling mobile experiences to a growing base of customers.

Danger Inc. provides services that allow people to keep in touch, stay organized and keep informed while on the go through real-time mobile messaging, social networking services and other applications – all blended together on a single phone that is intuitive and customizable.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

AOL to release Open Mobile Platform

AOL announced that it will be releasing to developers its new AOL Open Mobile Platform. The new open platform will help stimulate innovation by providing developers with ready access to the tools and source code they need to build and distribute applications across all major mobile device platforms and operating systems including BREW, Java, Linux, RIM, Symbian, and Windows Mobile. As a result, developers will be able to create applications for a wide variety of mobile devices.

The AOL Open Mobile Platform is based on proven technology acquired by AOL that has been deployed across more than 150 different handsets on carrier networks in the U.S.

In addition, it will be possible to integrate applications built using the AOL Open Mobile Platform with third-party APIs, as well as with AOL’s open APIs for AIM, AOL Mail, AOL Video, MapQuest, Userplane, Truveo, Winamp, and others. The AOL Open Mobile Platform will also give developers the ability to monetize their mobile applications by utilizing advertising resources, such as clickable banner ads, provided by AOL’s Platform-A.
