Napster introduces Over-The-Air video service in Japan

Digital music pioneer Napster announced that its unlimited over-the-air mobile subscription service in Japan will now include unlimited access to a high-quality digital video service to complement its music subscription service. The new video service, Napster Clips, puts high-quality music videos into the palms of purchasers of the new N906iL onefone model handset from Japan’s leading mobile operator, NTT DoCoMo.

“We are proud to partner with NTT DoCoMo on the launch of our first-ever mobile music video service,” said Napster President Brad Duea. “Providing Napster users with wireless mobile access to the world of music, including videos, over either a mobile network or WiFi network at home, is a significant milestone in our ongoing effort to expand and enhance our mobile offerings.”

Mobile users say “Let Your Fingers Do the Talking In-flight”

Nearly three out of four consumers agree that mobile phone usage on airplanes should be restricted to silent features only according to a new survey commissioned by Yahoo! Inc. and conducted by Harris Interactive.

The survey demonstrates that U.S. consumers today view their mobile phone as more than just a phone, it’s a computer in their pocket with a wide variety of features. Consumers surveyed support the ability to access mobile phone features like e-mail, text and IM while in-flight, but made clear their preference for no talking.

Across the U.S.A., but especially in the West, most consumers agree that mobile phone usage on planes should be restricted to non-talking features only:

West: 83 percent
Northeast: 72 percent
Midwest: 73 percent
South: 69 percent

More than half of consumers (60 percent) would want to use silent features while flying on an airplane such as:

Text message: 38 percent
Access e-mail: 28 percent
Play games: 29 percent

Cartoon Network stars get mobile with Kajeet

Kajeet, the cell phone service made for kids, and Turner Broadcasting System’s Cartoon Network announced a deal to bring mobile content from Cartoon Network to Kajeet handsets. The deal brings some of the top names in kids’ entertainment to the unique pay-as-you-go cell phone service.

The deal will bring select mobile content from the network’s original television shows, such as Ben 10: Alien Force, Chowder, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Powerpuff Girls and more, to kajeet handsets. kajeet users will be able to easily access the best in ringtones, wallpapers and games from Cartoon Network through their phone’s browser.

Google now part of Sprint’s mobile experience

Sprint handsets will now feature access to GoogleMobile Search, Google Maps for Mobile, YouTube, and more. In a partnership between Google and Sprint, it was announced that the search company will integrated its applications and services into Sprint customers’ mobile experiences. As part of the deal, Googlle will become Sprint’s preferred mobile search
