Why pay for mobile games when you can get it for free? In just over twelve months, consumers have responded to Greystripe’s question by continuing to reject the paid-gaming model, downloading over 14 million free mobile games from sites like GameJump.com, run by Greystripe, and other distributors all powered by Greystripe¹s mobile advertising network for gaming.

“In less than 12 months we have successfully shifted the economics of mobile content through the launch of Gamejump.com,†said Michael Chang, CEO of Greystripe. “Now mobile gaming joins radio, Internet, and television as a
form of entertainment that can be offered free to the consumer, supported by advertising in our case, before and after a consumer plays our titles.”

Currently, a whopping 800 games by 70 publishers are featured in Greystripe¹s catalog, which include a variety of genres to appeal to different users around the world. Having diverse titles has been successful: in the past year alone, the company has seen users play an average of 3.4 games and the number of females downloading games closing in on their male counterparts. Additionally, it seems like the early morning commute and lunch breaks are the most popular time of the day to play mobile games with 9 am, 1 pm, and 2 pm being the most popular game play times (adjusted per time zone).

Aiming to hype the “mobile lifestyle” around the globe, mobile manufacturer giant, Nokia, and Microsoft joined forces to enable all Nokia users in 11 countries with compatible S60 devices to download the new suite enabling access to Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Contacts and Windows Live Spaces.
Countries included are Denmark, Finland, France, Germany,Netherlands, Norway, Spain, U.K., Sweden, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. For those who own okia N73, N80 Internet Edition, N95, N76 and the N93i, they can simply download Windows Live Services here.
“The availability of Windows Live services for Nokia’s devices demonstrates our commitment to delivering great mobile experiences and extending people’s online lives – taking them from the PC to the device,” said Steve Berkowitz, senior vice president of the Online Services Business at Microsoft.

Jaiku today released its new conversation and presence application for Nokia Series 60 Smart phones, enabling people to engage in real time Jaiku conversations while mobile. The new Jaiku Nokia S60 app enhances the connection between people by also displaying when contacts are online, the last time they were active on the phone, and in what city they’re located.
As long as the Nokia phone is on, Jaiku is always running, so that the threads of conversation from your personal contacts can continue for instant viewing and participation from the phone at anytime. People can post new updates and comment on other posts and threads directly from the phone to the Web and also on your friend’s phones.
The new app features a visually rich contact list that displays their buddy icons and their real time presence. Status can be broadcast to others based on the ringer settings – as long as it’s on, it shows that person as being available. Nokia S60 users can also share their phone-based calendars to notify others of their upcoming events and availability.

Shockwave, one of MTVN Kids and Family Group’s leading sites for casual gamers, announced an agreement with Nokia to deliver Shockwave’s portfolio of Flash Lite mini games to consumers through the Nokia Content Discoverer client, embedded in millions of Nokia devices available in markets around the globe.
The agreement, which represents the first instance of a branded Flash-based games catalog on Nokia handsets, will offer Nokia consumers across multiple countries in Europe and Asia a quick and fun casual gaming experience on their mobile device. Initially, Shockwave will make available more than 20 games from the Shockwave Minis catalog, including Downhill Train and newly created games such as Happy Hours. Games based on popular MTV Networks properties will launch in the future.
