GovITwiki.com seeks to organize all IT solutions of the gov’t

The site’s chief objective is to help government IT decision-makers to achieve their desired results while also meeting mandated agency missions.

This new site caters to government employees who work with computer systems and information technology, vendors of information technology solutions who work directly with government offices and citizens or members of the press who desire a better understanding of how the government handles IT.

The GovITwiki site is written in plain English, yet it tracks multiple complex technology issues, such as computer networks, government business applications and data, system standards, enterprise architecture requirements and a wide range of government contracts and contact points. It also provides a way to promote best Government IT practices while exploring the business value of new solutions.

Secure Our Future launches site for 2008 presidential candidates

secure.jpgSecure Our Future, a new organization dedicated to protecting the retirement security of younger generations, announces in a Capitol Hill press conference at noon today the launch of a Web site featuring original video interviews with 2008 presidential candidates.

This Web site features original video interviews and research conducted by Students for Saving Social Security, a project of Secure Our Future. In addition to making clear the position of each candidate on Social Security reform, the site includes information about upcoming events, ways to get involved on campus and voter registration.

Maine enhances state Web site

maine.jpgThe state of Maine today unveiled an enhanced official state Web site with new features to improve access to government information. Maine.gov now includes a mapping function and contact directory. among other features.

Maine.gov now includes interactive maps of government offices and locations, including polling places, Health and Human Services offices, Motor Vehicle offices, career centers, courthouses, public libraries, state parks and town offices. The new contact directory hosts state agency contact information including agency Web site links, phone and TTY numbers, addresses and descriptions of agency duties.

“Maine.gov continues to excel in providing online access to government information in a way that is easy to use, saving time for Maine citizens and businesses,” Maine Governor John Baldacci commented. “The new enhancements to Maine.gov have greatly improved the state’s Web site, resulting in a significant value to the citizens of Maine.”

White House Report Says No Evidence of Huawei Spying

A few weeks back a US House of Representatives intelligence panel report basically accused two Chinese technology companies – ZTE and Huawei – as being threats to the US’ security. The allegations were made because of these two companies’ ties with the Chinese government. The report further stated that US companies should refrain from doing business with these two firms. Is paranoia starting to set in the American political landscape?

According to a report made by the House of Representatives’ intelligence panel that is reportedly going to be released this coming Friday, concern has been raised regarding the Huawei and ZTE, two of the largest telecommunications manufacturers in the world.  The concern is with regards to the two companies’ alleged ties to the Chinese military and government. The report states that China can use telecommunication companies for “malicious purposes.” [Read more…]
