Candystand.com releases online video games with Harlem Globetrotters

Blockbuster to offer online video game rentals

An upcoming pilot program from Blockbuster Inc. will offer consumers one-stop shopping for their online video game and movie rental needs during the second quarter.

The pilot program will allow select Blockbuster Total Access online customers to rent video games, as well as movies, through the mail as part of their subscription plan. With a goal of having the offering available nationally in the second half of the year, the company is launching the pilot program as the first step in its plan to make Blockbuster Total Access the only online rental service offering both movies and games.

In addition to more than 90,000 movie titles to choose from, Blockbuster Total Access subscribers in the pilot program will have the option of selecting from game titles across major platforms – including Nintendo Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox and Xbox 360. Participating subscribers will also continue to have the same subscription benefits as they currently do, plus the added benefit of video game availability.

Big Stage Entertainment partners with GGV Global Gaming on videogame promotion

Big Stage Entertainment, Inc. is partnering with videogame social networking company GGL Global Gaming (GGL) to promote free game content on BigStage.com.

The first promotion rollout with a major video game publisher is scheduled for early 2009. Members of the BigStage.com and GGL communities will soon be able to insert their 3-D @ctor, a realistically animated digital clone quickly created for free from a few photos, into game cinematics, still images and animatics. Users can then share this content with friends and post to GGL community pages and other social networks, such as Facebook and MySpace.

With 26 million unique visitors per month, the GGL Network serves as a hub for videogame fans worldwide. The vast network of GGL gamers visit the site to find news, information and communities, in addition to competing in online gaming competitions and tournaments.

H3 Enterprises inks partnership with Xfire to unveil SodaShopTV

Hip-Hop company H3 Enterprises has entered into an exclusive joint venture partnership with Xfire to form SodaShopTV. The live hip-hop and video gaming news talk show will offer video gamers and hip-hop music fans unrestricted access to video content. The show will feature weekly events from the HipHopSodaShop including celebrity artist performances, video gaming tournaments, sector news updates from both the video gaming and hip-hop scenes and much more. The show is set to debut in pilot format December 2008.

A unique landing page will launch on Xfire.com in the coming weeks with access to live streaming and on demand video from SodaShopTV. Additional information on SodaShopTV will be released in the coming weeks including a current lineup of show sponsors. The show is still currently in production.

Cellufun extends mobile games to new carriers

Mobile gaming portal Cellufun and ClearSky Mobile Media is making available Cellufun’s games community to ClearSky’s existing wireless carrier partners. This relationship marks the first time Cellufun has worked with a managed service provider to deliver its games to a large network of more than two million customers in North America.

Cellufun is already attracting five million unique users a month to its virtual world, mainly from off-deck and individual carrier subscriber growth. By partnering with ClearSky, Cellufun games will receive prominent placement on subscriber handsets through a multitude of regional carrier networks, making it much easier for wireless customers to discover the Cellufun community.
