Playstation 3 Now Supports Facebook Updates

Possibly not wanting to let Xbox Live one up them, Sony has officially announced support for Facebook.  The announcement was made via a post at the official Playstation blog about the latest PS3 firmware (v3.10) update.  One of the new features of the firmware updates is of course “partial” support to Facebook.

Partial support meaning if you are a Playstation 3user, you can have the option to let your PS3 automatically updates your Facebook news feed with your game trophies as well as purchases at the Playstation Store. But to do this, you need to link your Playstation Network to your Facebook account first. Similar perhaps to the process of allowing third party apps to connect to your Facebook account. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gets Banned in Russia, Totally

What is it with Governments not getting the very premise of video games – that they are video games?  Seriously, do people in the government really think that gamers are dumb enough that they would believe in game plots and all?

As for Russian gamers who reacted against some parts of the game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 since it seems to put Russia in bad light, well same thing goes to you – it is just a video game. [Read more…]

Facebook’s City of Eternals Game Breaks Social Gaming Norms

And that’s what Ohai, a game startup wants to change as it prepares to launch City of Eternals – a new Vampire-inspired massively multiplayer online game on Facebook.

City of Eternals, unlike other Facebook social games will feature synchronous play – live gameplay where movement and action are constantly moving. Apple to drive mobile gaming sales, says research

ipodtouch.jpgWind back a few years and no-one would have named Apple as being influential in the gaming sphere. Mind you, no-one would have betted on them having a world class mobile phone, either.

Now, research from DFC Intelligence suggests that it’s Apple that could help to drive the mobile game market to $11.7bn annual sales by 2014.

Though they suggest that the likes of Nintendo and Sony will still lead the market, they say that these companies have peaked, while Apple’s platforms will be responsible for the bulk of market growth over the next five years. [Read more…]
