Facebook app allow users to refer and earn

ReferQuest.com and its Facebook version has launched, allowing its to state what they’re looking for, along with the reward they’ll pay the person who finds it for them.

Money can be earned also by promoting requests, finding matches, and earning the offered rewards. ReferQuest.com currently offers over $40 thousand in rewards. Small businesses can use the free application to offer finders’ fees to reward customer acquisition. Posting requests is free, and users only pay when they’ve found what they’re seeking.

It’s straightforward: Offer rewards for the results you want. We will see though how this new site progresses.

Google Reader Starts Looking Like Facebook

Facebook’s news feed makes it look like a content aggregator. Now Google Reader is starting to look more a like a social network. The world’s leading RSS reader now copies features from the world’s leading social network: people search and “like” buttons. The people search feature is itself powered by something else that’s very Facebookish: Google Profiles.

This isn’t Google Reader’s first step into social networking. Google Reader users have long been able to share content with each other. Join a blog on Google Friend Connect, and it shows up in Google Reader. Once again, we see the different approaches these companies take to the Web: Facebook starts with people and moves to content, while Google starts with content and moves to people.

We all know which approach advertisers prefer right now. Google makes billions matching ads to content, while Facebook is still trying to figure out how to match ads to people (Beacon fiasco, anyone?). Even in that area, Google is starting to match ads to people through behavioral targeting.

Thing is, advertisers go where people go. We must ask which approach people prefer right now. Do people prefer discovering connections through content, or content through connections? Google Reader’s social experimentation should help answer that question.

Facebook introduces Fan Box website widget for important people

Facebook Connect: Ace in the Hole

Facebook ConnectNicholas Carlson reports that Facebook Connect, the service that allows Facebook users to log into third-party sites using their Facebook credentials, is seeing rapid adoption. Just seven months after launch, over ten thousand sites have integrated the service — from mainstream hangouts like Hulu, to geek havens like Digg, to personal WordPress blogs through a plugin.

Statusplug, the service to sell advertising on your Facebook page

Some days ago I announced the upcoming PayPerFacebookStatusUpdate rather tongue in cheek. Now it seems that this area already covered is for Facebook Page administrators. If you have a rather popular Facebook page with thousands of fans and want to earn a quick buck from the effort you put in to maintaining your page, StatusPlug is an advertising network offering exactly this.

Advertisers can share media files or just links. Publishers have the freedom to refuse campaigns they do not wish to promote. Right now the statusplug directory does not offer many opportunities yet, but several rather large pages such as Laughing when someone falls (almost 2million fans) and Chocolate chip cookies (more than 1million fans) are present already.
Prices start at $50 and go up to $800 right now (Laughing when someone falls).

It will be interesting to see if this service grows or if other players will join this space, accelerate their efforts to own the Facebook Status Updates advertising market.

Over at The Blog Herald Thord D. Hedengren reported another way of selling advertisements on Facebooks: via ebay.
