For Best Buy, it’s better late than never. While online movie delivery is no longer a new thing, it’s  only now that the company more popularly known for selling DVDs has finally decided to start  embracing the current trend in the movie distribution industry – direct online streaming.
To do this, Best Buy is set to announce that it has teamed up with SonicSolutions for the use of its CinemaNow streaming technology.

Online destination for high-definition entertainment Jaman.com is partnering with Cinetic Rights Management.
This partnership expands Jaman’s catalogue to more than 7000 films, including Oscar-winning documentaries and contenders from the world’s premiere film festivals. Cinetic will also deliver hits premiered during film festivals in 2008
Most recently, Jaman acquired nearly 3,000 titles of E1 Entertainment’s most renowned feature films and documentaries, episodic series and American TV classics. Other current content providers include Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, BFI, Eros International, Magnolia Pictures, First Look Films, Arts Alliance America and BBC Worldwide America.

BrowserMedia has released its iPhone application for the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.
BrowserMedia worked closely with The Recording Academy to design and develop an iPhone application to help promote the upcoming Grammy Awards on February 8. The application is an interactive trivia game designed to test the user’s knowledge through a celebration of 51 years of Grammy history. BrowserMedia is developing a companion Facebook application to further promote the Grammy’s and offer an ongoing trivia contest, which will be promoted on the Grammy.com website.

An upcoming pilot program from Blockbuster Inc. will offer consumers one-stop shopping for their online video game and movie rental needs during the second quarter.
The pilot program will allow select Blockbuster Total Access online customers to rent video games, as well as movies, through the mail as part of their subscription plan. With a goal of having the offering available nationally in the second half of the year, the company is launching the pilot program as the first step in its plan to make Blockbuster Total Access the only online rental service offering both movies and games.
In addition to more than 90,000 movie titles to choose from, Blockbuster Total Access subscribers in the pilot program will have the option of selecting from game titles across major platforms – including Nintendo Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox and Xbox 360. Participating subscribers will also continue to have the same subscription benefits as they currently do, plus the added benefit of video game availability.
