Lycos integrates blinkx on MIX platform

Lycos MixLycos, Inc. announced that it has expanded its relationship with blinkx, the world’s largest video search engine, fully integrating blinkx functionality on its Lycos MIX platform.

Now when users visit Lycos MIX to create video playlists, they can easily search for and view video results powered by blinkx within MIX, without ever having to leave the site. With blinkx video search, MIX creators simply type their video selection into the search box, and blinkx then pulls video clips from a variety of different sources across the web, presenting video search results all in one place on MIX.

Lycos MIX, developed internally by the Lycos Labs product team, made its debut earlier this year as a tool for users to create an amalgamation
of video content to share with other users. MIX visitors also participate in the MIX by viewing, commenting and adding more video clips to the MIX.

Universal Music UK chooses Roo to launch online video package

roo.jpgROO Group has been selected by Universal Music UK to launch 130 online video players that will feature exclusive Universal Music video content from its diverse roster of artists.

Under the deal, ROO will roll out its cutting-edge video players across all of Universal Music UK’s major sites, which includes its portfolio of label sites such as Mercury Island, UCJ and Polydor Records, and a multitude of artist sites that will all feature full-screen viewing capabilities. The partnership will enable Universal Music UK to commercialize its digital offering and launch new revenue channels through services such as creative advertising solutions, the distribution and promotion of streamed content, downloads and sponsorship opportunities.

“The Prison Life: Paris” released

With over a million plays from around the world, “The Prison Life: Paris,” the Internet’s hottest celebrity satirical game, is getting its own sequel. Today, in honor of Paris Hilton’s re-release from the clink, GSN.com launches “The Prison Life 2: Full-Release.”

“Online games should be enjoyable, topical and timely, but most importantly they have to be addicting,” commented Roberts. “GSN has been successful because we strive to capture that winning combination in all of our games,” John P. Roberts, Senior Vice President of GSN, said.

‘Code Monkeys’ to premiere exclusively on Break.com

break.jpgBreak.com, an online entertainment channel for men, and G4 announced that the new original animated series, “Code Monkeys,” will premiere exclusively on Break.com.

From the warped mind of creator Adam de la Peña (“Minoriteam,” “The Man Show”), “Code Monkeys” is a rowdy celebration and biting parody of videogames, technology and pop culture. The satire, which is produced by de la Peña’s Monkey Wrangler Productions, collides with reality as several of the most iconic technology and gaming personalities ever lend their voices for special guest “appearances,” including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and Atari founder Nolan Bushnell. The first episode of “Code Monkeys,” “ET,” will premiere in its entirety on Break.com on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. The animated series premieres on G4 with back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, July 11 starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

New RealPlayer now available

real.jpg Digital entertainment services company RealNetworks has announced that the much anticipated new RealPlayer is now available for consumers to download for free at their site. For the first time, consumers can use one application to record and download videos from tens-of-thousands of Web sites with a single click, bringing the digital video recorder (DVR) experience to the Web and ushering in a new era in Internet video.

People can search thousands of sites across the Web for video content, regardless of format, directly from within the RealPlayer. During or after RealPlayer playback of a video clip users can click the new “Share Video Link” feature to email friends a link to the original location of the video.

“Our goal with the new RealPlayer is to enable consumers to watch Internet video whenever and wherever they want,” said Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO of RealNetworks. “By making it ‘one-click’ simple to download, we’re changing they way people experience online video.”
