Daily Motion to feature Turner Broadcasting Europe programs

turner.pngDailymotion, an independent video sharing site, and Turner Broadcasting System Europe announced an agreement to make news, entertainment and animation programming available to audiences across Europe. The agreement marks Turner’s choice of Dailymotion as a key partner in the wider distribution of its content across non-linear platforms and the continued distribution of Adult Swim outside of the US.

The deal covers content from Turner’s leading global news network, CNN International, which will be featured on the new Dailymotion News Channel with hourly refreshes, as well as from Adult Swim, the edgy animation brand which will form a key part of Dailymotion’s Funny Channel with clips from flagship programs such as Robot Chicken, Frisky Dingo and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. In addition, Dailymotion will feature clips from Nuts TV.

Over 6 million song plays on Ckrush through September

ckrush.pngCkrush Digital Network announced that it has recorded over 6 million individual song plays year to date through September 2007. The millions of song plays are happening at the Ckrush online music communities AudioStreet.net and MixStreet.net. AudioStreet.net is home to over 50,000 independent bands and music artists and MixStreet.net is home to over 20,000 DJs. As music-based social networks, AudioStreet and MixStreet are in one of the hottest sectors on the web and continue to establish themselves as important music communities.

AudioStreet.net recorded approximately 300,000 song plays for the month of September and approximately 3,000,000 song plays year to date. MixStreet.net recorded approximately 230,000 song plays for the month of September and approximately 3,600,000 year to date. A song play occurs when a user of either AudioStreet or MixStreet listens to one of the thousands of songs artists have placed on the sites.

Warner Bros. launches ‘I Am Legend: Survival’ game playable in Second Life

iamlegend.pngWarner Bros. Pictures unveiled an original, online, multiplayer first-person shooter/RPG game playable in Second Life. The largest and most expansive Second Life game ever launched in support of a film release, I Am Legend: Survival transports players into an eerie replica of over 60 acres of New York City set in the chaotic year preceding the movie. The future of mankind hangs in the balance as players choose to play in either of two rival factions, uninfected and infected. Uninfected characters must fight to survive as they desperately seek the cure for the terrible virus that is destroying mankind. Infected characters have only one objective: to stop uninfected characters at all costs.

The game features player-customizable avatars loosely based on characters in the film and New York City-based environments that change and expand over time, and supports both voice and text chat for in-game multiplayer communication. The game is available as a free download.

I Am Legend: Survival is inspired by the upcoming feature film “I Am Legend,” starring Will Smith as Robert Neville.

CBS acquires celebrity blog Dotspotter.com

It seems there is no stopping TV network CBS from its Web 2.0 shopping spree. PaidContent.org reports it has acquired Dotspotter.com, a 10-month old celebrity blog, for a hefty sum of $10 million. According to Rafat Ali:

The price seems pretty high for a sector which is saturated with more high profile celebrity blogs/sites like TMZ.com, PerezHilton, and others…and, of course, the fact that the site was only launched mid-January this year. But one source close to the situation told us the price is not for the site itself, but the team that has built it…that may also mean there’s a heavy earn-out component, possibly. Would be interesting to see if the site lasts as a standalone brand.

Recently, CBS also acquired Last.fm and video blog Wallstrip.
