Moviestorm to attract more amateur movie makers with free app

Short Fuze Limited, the Cambridge company set up to bring movie making to the world, has released its first consumer version of Moviestorm, for free.

Moviestorm is a complete software package for creating animated movies that is both easy-to-use for first-timers and fully featured for advanced movie makers. It takes first-time users through the entire movie making process from set-building, character creation and script-writing to titles, credits and editing in under fifteen minutes, ending up with a digital animated movie that can be uploaded to YouTube or Moviestorm’s own site with a single click.

The base Moviestorm pack is free and includes everything required to make a simple movie. Additional content packs, providing more costumes, sets, props and animations, are available from Moviestorm for under $20.

Now, go ahead and make a movie this weekend.

EA signs with United Talent Agency

Electronic Arts Inc. has signed with leading Hollywood talent and literary agency United Talent Agency for representation in motion pictures and television.

UTA will help the company develop a comprehensive strategy for moving its intellectual property into the realm of large-budget motion pictures and television series. EA’s broad portfolio of titles includes top-selling franchises such as Army of Two and Need for Speed as well as eagerly awaited new titles such as Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge.

The relationship is expected to significantly ramp up EA’s film and television slate, which currently includes a feature version of the popular The Sims game in script development at 20th Century Fox with producer John Davis and a MySims animated television series in development at Film Roman. EA is also in production with Starz/Film Roman on an animated DVD feature version of its new title Dead Space to launch with the game.

My Damn Channel closes brand entertainment deal with Southern Comfort

Entertainment studio and new media platform My Damn Channel has inked a major branded entertainment deal with Southern Comfort.

The two companies are partnering to create twelve weeks of “My Damn Channel Music Nights” in music bars and clubs in New York and Los Angeles and on the SoCo Music Experience festival tour this summer. Programming will also appear on My Damn Channel and across its network of syndication partners.

The AOL mobile portal and breaking news content from TMZ.com can be accessed by going to AOL.com by using any web-enabled mobile device. AOL’s mobile portal will link to TMZ’s stand-alone mobile web site for photo and video galleries, free news alerts and advance previews of stories that will air in the daily TMZ television program. Disney.com to stream full-length movies

Disney.com will stream full-length movies, featuring selections from the Wonderful World of Disney. The films will first air on ABC as part of its weekly Wonderful World of Disney presentation. A week after, the full-length films will then be available for free streaming on Disney.com.

Additionally, Disney.com will stream the Disney Channel Original Movie “Camp Rock” on June 23, following its television premiere on June 20 and additional airings on ABC on June 21, and ABC Family on June 22.
