Buy an Entire Village Online

June 17, 2008 By Andrew G. R.

Hillary Clinton believes it takes a village. How would you like to OWN the village? Thanks in part to an online auction, White’s City, New Mexico can be yours.

Imagine it: two motels, an RV park, 25 campsites, your own post office, grocery store, restaurants and more – sitting on your land.

The auction takes place on July 14 at 11am. Online bidding starts the very next day. Bid here.

No pressure, though. The town has been operating for over 80 years under the ownership of the White family. Looks like they’ve had enough and are packing it in.

The tourist town sits outside of Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

I love how far online bidding has come. I might be interested. Do you think they’ll accept Paypal?

eBay Inc. is opening up to third parties to integrate applications directly onto its site. This move will give developers unprecedented access to eBay’s community of professional sellers, creating more opportunities for developers to market their tools and giving sellers a wider variety of sales optimization applications.

Developers interested in building applications on eBay.com will be required to meet site standards for trusted buying and selling experiences. Once approved, developers have an opportunity for their applications to be discovered by business sellers on eBay.com, and will be in a position to monetize their application with subscription-based revenue.

Anyone interested in selling your life at eBay?

March 18, 2008 By Leo Blanco

ian-usher.gifThere are so many weird stuffs you can stumble upon on eBay. Now here’s a cool way to get over your romantic partner and land a spot on Yahoo’s Odd News section.

Meet Ian Usher, a 44 year-old Brit who moved to Perth, Australia in the name of love and now selling practically all his belongings at eBay in the name of love (lost) once again.

The Telegraph reports Usher is selling everything including his three-bedroom house, car, jet ski, motorcycle, job in a rug store (with employer consent) and even his friends to the highest bidder so he can forget the bitter memories he had in Australia after a failed 5-year marriage. You can check out the complete details at www.alife4sale.com.

This so-called “life package” is his clever exit strategy as well as starting fund to start all over again. Usher expects to get £230,000 out of this online bidding.

So if you’re bored with your life, want to experience the adventures of Usher from a first-person perspective, and most importantly have enough money to win the bid, this whole weeklong bidding fiesta will kick off on June 22. Wife sold separately.
